About Debbie & Alberta:

Debbie Young has been working in the field of death, dying and end of care planning since 2011 and is an experienced death cafe host and facilitator. Alberta Gutteridge has worked in the charity sector supporting vulnerable people for over fifteen years and has recently trained as a funeral celebrant.


What brings you to Death Cafe?

A desire to enable open and confident conversations about death and dying; to contribute to a society that supports grief and acknowledges loss. 


What would you like your legacy to be?

To be part of the Death Cafe community that removes the taboo from talking about death and dying.

Maybe death

isn’t darkness after all, but so much light

wrapping itself around us  -

as soft as feathers –

that we are instantly weary

of looking, and looking, and shut our eyes,

not without amazement,

and let ourselves be carried,

as through the translucence of mica,

to the river

that is without the least dapple or shadow –
