Death Cafe Practitioners Page
Hi i just held a Death Cafe at dans camp wales
Death Café Zürich seems to attract people with mental and/or social deficits. Their behavior is excessive and inappropiate and they draw attention their way and away from the purpose of death cafe.
It has happened more than once and I'm worried it might damage the death cafe by discouraging genuine interested people from coming again.
I wonder if this is a typically urban problem and if other death cafes share this experience. And I'm looking for ways to handle/cope with it.
I have a question, the page said new religious groups can't be a supporter, does that mean my Unitarian Universalist church could not donate space or coffe and tea?
Thank you
Linda Lockhart
we are about to hold our first Death Cafe meeting/gathering in September and we were wondering if after publicity has circulated with date, place and time, if it would be a good idea to provide an email address, designated to our death Cafe and ask for rsvp's in case we have a bigger response than anticipated. Our meeting place can only accomodate a total of 20 people. Just wondered how other organizers handled this issue. We don't like the idea of having to turn anyone away, due to limited space.
I am sure it is specified here somewhere but I am just going to cut through and ask:
Is it okay to create an email for the purpose of RSVP's that has the name Death Cafe in the email address? For instance:
deathcafe.pec@gmail.com
Held my first death cafe, one person attended. I'm disappointed! What do a I need to do to get more bums on seats?
I put up about 15 posters, at various venues and advertised in local free media, print and radio.
Would including my name and phone number help? I didn't for the first lot of publicity, figuring I didn't want the hassle and that the me isn't important.
Thanks in advance for ideas and suggestions
Heads up!! Death Cafe coming to Phoenix, Arizona.
Hello,
I need to cancel a Death Cafe that I've posted and can't find how to do this. No-one has booked yet so its simply a matter of deleting it before anyone books.
Thank you
best wishes

I am wondering what guidelines are to be used to determine how many death cafes can be hosted in a city or area. Is there any rule of thumb.
Hosted my first Death Cafe in San Rafael CA

I just wanted to report that I hosted a Death Cafe last night, and it was everything I'd hoped!
I am part of an Episcopal Church community--actually, my husband is the rector or head priest--and I advertised it in my church newsletter and Sunday service bulletins. I also posted on the Deathcafe.com website and made a facebook event that was public and I invited abtou 100 of my local friends. INterestingly, 12 people showed up and they were all from my church. So that tells me if I were to try to get a local group from the public, posting on the deathcafe website is not enough. I'd have to do a lot of postering, I think.
But I'll echo what others have said about the conversation flowing very easily and the time passing quickly. I felt it was sacred time to hear people sharing their stories of death.
I'll also say when I asked at the beginning for people to share what had brought them to the event, most people said they LOVED the name Death Cafe.
Thank you, Jon, for creating this format and making it so easy. I think we'll continue to offer them and hope people from outside our church will join.
I posted my first death cafe this morning, but still don't see it on the website. How long does it take for the first posting to appear?
I am looking into holding my first Death Cafe and would welcome any hints and guidance from others. I have read the documents on this site but I am unsure if I just go ahead and organise it and advertise it on here, or do I need to get in contact with anyone first?
Also any good ideas as to what has worked well for others would be helpful.
Thank you, Lisa
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to organize a Death Café in my city.
We're calling it Death Café but want to have a Portuguese translation as well. Would it be OK for us to use the Portuguese name with the Death Café logo?
we are holding our first death cafe in 4 days time, it has had a good responce and am expecting a good turnout.. while its not a place to 'sell' i wanted to put out on a table business cards and flyers for other death related events, workshops and services. would this be classed as selling? or just infomation that could be picked up anyway on the hoasting cafes inforation board ..
also a list of conselling and berivment contact numbers for anyone who feels the need for suport and conselling services ..thanks karen
How do I post my Death Cafe to the site please?
Thanks very much for answering this question for me?
