About Luisa Ruiz:
I´m finishing my PhD in Thanatology and studying a Master´s Degree in Transpersonal Psycotherapy.
I´m a Science teacher at High School level.
I love reading, writing, traveling, hiking and photography.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
My interest about the topic related to death.
I read about Death Cafe and liked the idea.
There is no Death Cafe in Mexico so my purpose is to start one in Mexico City.
Thoughts for sharing:
Sleep is the image of death.
When a dying man cries, it is not because of where he is going which he knows nothing about, but because of what he wishes he would have done in the world he is leaving behind.
Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way.
All of life is a dream walking, all of death is a going home.
Meeting death is better than trying to ignore it.

It was a great moment to share some thoughts about death.
We were 15 people in total, 13 women and 2 men.
We talked about death of a son/daughter, suicide, terminal illness, social death.
Even when most of people didn´t know each other, it´s great to see how they open and talk about a topic it´s usually hard to talk about.

Last Wednesday it was the first Death Cafe in Mexico City. We were 9 in total: 3 men and 6 women. We started it at 7:30 p.m. and finished at 9:30 p.m.
We gathered in one group and talked about how cultures celebrate death, some movies related to the topic. But most of it, personal experiences like diseases, relatives who have died, etc.
I really enjoyed it and I´m looking forward to the next one in March.
