About Amber Whitlatch:
Since 1988, I have been called to explore and study spiritual and philosophical wisdom. It started with the death of my Father. After his passing, even as a child, I was drawn to connect more meaningfully with the living.
From the depths of my own broken heart, I found a path to transformation that fostered my awareness of the universal light and love within us all and it dictated the way I lived.
With my Mother’s loving support, I spent my youth in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, as a “well- known libertine,” my all-inclusive personality and home providing a safe haven and a karmic center for my soul searching friends.
I went on to volunteer and work with individuals who suffer with anxiety and depression, which further enhanced my skills and solidified my calling.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I currently offer End of Life Consulting to individuals and families in and around Tulsa.
I want to open the door and invite my neighbors and community members into a safe space to be with the uncomfortable topics surrounding death and dying.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I care nothing about legacy. If anyone speaks about me when I'm gone, I will never know anything about it.
Thoughts for sharing:
Our culture has demonized aging and dying, unlike most Eastern cultures where death is viewed as simply another rite of passage, like a wedding or the birth of a child. Death is to be anticipated, discussed, planned for, and celebrated. We gather loved ones near we break bread together, we say our final goodbyes. Sometimes it is a somber affair, other times more lighthearted, but always filled with emotion.
Fear need not play a part. You have already proven your bravery by reading these words. Whether you have reached out for yourself, or on a loved one’s behalf, you are ready to enter this phase, clear-eyed and prepared for the hard conversations and the many decisions you face.

One hour doesn't seem like a lot of time to spend with the heavy topics of death and dying.
It is my hope, that by holding space regularly, we ...
