About Gemma Godivala:

I am a funeral celebrant. Most people assume that I am surrounded every day by grief. The way I see it, I am surrounded by love. Sitting with a berreaved person and having them tell me all about one of the people who meant most to them in all the world is an honour and it is inspiring.
I firmly believe there is a such a thing as a good death. Not only is death the only way out of this life, it is the *right* way. It is completeness. Or it can be.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

I want to host a Death Cafe locally. I am an advocate for normalising conversations about death.  No matter how much people know on a logical level that death comes to everyone, so many young people don't *really* understand that and few ever want to think about it.

What would you like your legacy to be?

A connected family. Children connected to each other and to their ancestors, their roots.

Thoughts for sharing:

"If I should die and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by silent dust.

For my sake, turn again to life and smile, nerving they heart and trembling hand to do something to comfort weaker hearts than thine.

Complete these dear unfinished tasks of mine. And I perchance may therein comfort you."

Mary Lee Hall

"The only way to take the sorrow out of death is to take the love out of life."

Russell M Nelson
