About Jade Whaley:

Throughout my life journey, I have heard the voices and seen the faces of grief - not just in others but also within myself. However, I am grateful for having experienced absolute joy and love as well. Both aspects are inherent parts of life and being human.

I believe that life is about being present, feeling connected, being loved, and loving others. By exploring the aspects of life and death, we gain a better understanding of ourselves.

I have chosen to pursue a practice that helps people transition through changes in life, love, and loss. As a funeral celebrant, life coach, and mentor based in Timaru, South Canterbury, I aim to make a positive difference in people's lives.

Too add to my life tool-belt, I am also training to become a Death Doula.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

Death and dying are significant and inevitable parts of life. By thinking and talking about them, understanding how you feel and what you believe can provide you with a different perspective on your own life. Talking about death does not bring it closer; rather, it is about planning for life.

Being part of the Death Cafe offers us the opportunity to do this in a supportive environment.

What would you like your legacy to be?

My goal is to make a positive impact on the way people perceive and connect with life and death. Life is about living well, but that is not always easy. That's why I am here to help.

My purpose is to assist others on their journey in a down-to-earth, honest, compassionate, and empowering manner.

Thoughts for sharing:

My thoughts and reflections:

Death is a natural part of life, not the opposite of life but rather a part of it. Instead of fearing death, we should aim to create something meaningful that will outlast our physical bodies.

In embracing death, we can understand and appreciate the fragility of life and cherish each moment we have with our loved ones.

Death reminds us not to waste time but to express our love for each other now. It is a challenge that encourages us to live fully and maximise our time.

As we approach death, we can shed our physical bodies like a butterfly shedding its cocoon and transition to a higher state of consciousness, where we can continue to grow, understand, and perceive. In this way, death is not the end but merely a transition to a new beginning.
