About Merri-Lee Agar:
I am a Death Doula, or Thana Doula and End of Life Guide. I've been called to this work, to help the dying and their loved ones navigate their end of life journey. I offer a holistic healing approach to dying; physically, mentally, emotionalyl and spiritually by helping them capture how they want to be remembered through legacy work, and to help create and facilitate their vigil.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Part of my calling as a Death Doula is to provide the opportunity for people to talk about dying and death; to explore, share and question what it means to them. The Death Cafe principles and objectives align beautifully with my work; to offer a safe and non-judgemental space to do just that and to help create an awareness of death and mortality so that we can live our lives more fully - while enjoying coffee and cake!
What would you like your legacy to be?
This work...helping people to capture their life the way they want to be remembered, helping them heal beore they die, helping them to die the way they want to...all the while living my life mindfully, with kindness, compassion, purpose and love.
Thoughts for sharing:
Having had the privledge to walk the end of life journey with dying people, I am always struck by how fully 'alive' they are, because they don't have time to not be. They have a perspective on life we often don't, because we don't realize that we are all dying.
