Attendance was small again this month, but Skully enjoyed a warm chai while talking about how there are some tribal cultures that still go through ritual cannibalism as part of their funeral services.

While I had previously dabbled with Death Cafes in-person in Massachusetts US, but lost track when I switched states for work and even though I desired to connect with like minded folks in this space, things got lost in translation.
While visting the UK, I saw a virtual event on the deathcafe website that was happening on the same day I logged on and in an hour's time i.e. 11/16 and I hopped on - believing serendipidity.
The conversations were interesting and a mix of individuals with varied life experiences turned up. We talked about the process of how end of life doulas work, hospice care ...

Nine people, once strangers, showed up at Chapin Memorial Library for a two-hour Death Café, and the conversation never really stopped.
With cake on the table and coffee in hand, people opened up about everything from family stories to worries, to the odd bits of humor that come with talking about death honestly.
It was relaxed, thoughtful, sometimes surprisingly funny — the kind of gathering that reminds you how good it feels to talk openly about things most folks avoid.

We hosted our first Death Cafe at the Cha House in Birmingham, AL. The event exceeded our expectations! We didn't require a formal RSVP so we were uncertain how many people would attend. We had approximately 30 people present for the event. The attendees were engaged and thoughtful and we covered a variety of topics including traditional vs green burials, our own mortality and how to be present for family/friends at the end of life. We are hopeful this will be the first of many in our area.

This month at our October Death Café we had 9 attendees! We had a lot of new faces, as well as many that we see every month! It was so fun learning about everyone, and discussing all things death. This month our conversation focused a lot on the Death with Dignity Act that is being voted in in Indiana. We talked about what it is, and how we feel about the topic of Medically Aided Death as a whole. We also discussed other things that can assist in making the dying process more comfortable, such as psychedelics, morphine, hypnosis, and meditation. Another big topic that got brought up ...

We had a small but actively engaged group of interesting attendees at the Friends Meeting House. After enjoying tea and Marionberry Cake we launched into a wide-ranging conversation on death and dying. The group came from a variety of backgrounds and had many stories to relate. There was concern about the lack of openness in our culture to discuss death. Several people asked to hear more about how other cultures navigate the issue. We discussed planning a good death. Choosing and talking to an end of life advocate was interesting to several attendees. Advanced directives and POLST were discussed. Body disposal options were discussed. We spent lots of ...

This guide helps you set micro-goals during mourning that support both healing and dignity. You’re not here to hustle — you’re here to rebuild in fragments. That requires trust in your pacing and tools that can hold your grief without judgment. Below, we explore ...
