Many people were interested in attending the first Death Cafe in Cali, Colombia, as a new proposal in the city; finally, about 10 guests participated in this meeting. The food had a key role to break the ice, once attendees shared it, they began to speak. Discussion on topics such as the death of another being, grief, how to live knowing that we will die, and what is said of death in everyday contexts, such as medical centers and schools. Also, there were interventions on the relationship of death with mystical, religious beliefs, and the here and now. The group regulated itself, giving an opportunity to each participant to express him/herself. It was a calm meeting, of trust, and with respect for the different ways of thinking and feel. ¡Everyone was very grateful!
Muchas personas estuvieron interesadas en asistir al primer Death Cafe en Cali-Colombia, como una propuesta novedosa en la ciudad; finalmente, alrededor de 10 invitados participaron en este encuentro. La comida tuvo un papel clave para romper el hielo, una vez que los asistentes la compartieron, comenzaron a hablar. Surgió discusión sobre temas como: el morir del otro, los duelos, cómo vivir sabiendo que vamos a morir, y lo que se dice de la muerte en contextos cotidianos, como centros médicos y colegios. También, hubo intervenciones sobre la relación de la muerte con creencias místicas, religiosas, y del aquí y el ahora. El grupo se autorreguló, dando oportunidad de expresarse a cada participante. Fue un encuentro tranquilo, de confianza y respeto por las diferentes formas de pensar y sentir.
