ALL THE BIG QUESTIONS!

Here’s a big secret. At Death Cafes we may talk a lot about death, but we are really talking about how to live with death in the world. We know about near death experiences, but not actual really for-a-while die and come back to tell about it, yet. The fact that there are, by default, no experts in this area is really freeing. We are free to have our own ideas, opinions, venture to share them, listen to others and try on new ideas in a safe environment. We’re all just people in process. Life in progress, go slow. It’s my favorite thing about Cafes, diversity and inclusiveness. For me, it’d be a dull, flat world without it. Who’d want that?!

This month we touched in on ALL the big questions. What is not being here and how do we live with that? Do our spirits live on in some way other than in the hearts of those who know us? Is death the end, or not? Where do we go? Is a being together, a loved one meet-up a thing? Is there a right time to die? How can we have dignity in death? Thankfully Death Cafes aren’t about answers, but perhaps a bit more ease blooms in our shared reality of living with the questions. One person told about finding real comfort chatting with an AI generated creator type avatar. It’s a 21st century version of another big question, is there anyone(s), anything, out there that can help?

Also, a very cool life hack was shared. I’ll call it the Jar of Joy. 1. Start with an empty jar. 2. Each day write down one thing that brought you joy and put it in the jar. 3. At the end of a year (perhaps New Year’s eve or day) dump out all the joy’s and read them! What fun! 4. Start again!

I’m already looking forward to our next rich Café conversation. Hope to see you there.
