About Lexington Death Cafe:
I love hiking and camping and everything outdoors. Through my adventures I create and find moments of joy and discover those glimmers in my day. I find that the more joy I uncover, the less I am concerned about the natural process of death. People fascinate me with our vast mosaic of experiences. And we are stronger together.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Through my own experience I have learned that taking the concept of death out of the shadows brings colors back to life, colors I didn't even know were missing. I became an end-of-life doula four years ago, and with my doula partner, Lindsay Hayden, we now have a not-for-profit doula practice. (If you'd like to understand our work more, check out the link.) My work as a doula has greatly increased my passion for bringing more peace towards death. The first step is opening the topic to more discussion.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I would like my legacy to be that my work and my death can teach others that death is not to be feared but accepted as the natural part of life that it is. And how this acceptance will dissapate fear and transform persistent heaviness into light and color. Wouldn't that be wonderful?
