About Lucia LaNasa:
I am a Death Doula in Salem, OR. I serve the Willamette Valley and have extensive experience in MAID and working with vulnerable populations. My passion is serving queer and disabled, his-tribally marginalized communities and also helping more represented communities set up community death care practices. I also assist with home funerals and legacy planning.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Talking about death in the community is important. People are often confused, misinformed, and traumatized from experiencing systems fail their loved ones. Building community knowledge and safety allows people to build trust and create collaborative and constructive spaces to explore death in all aspects.
What would you like your legacy to be?
To have given all I could to love people and create safety for people to do some of the hardest work they get to experience on their way out. To support those looking for purpose and meaning when grieving their own lives and those of their loved ones. To make sure each experience is respected, that informed and enthusiastic consent to treatments and choices is required and respected. To care for people as individual, leaving behind the one size fits all approach to exploring death, meaning, and preparing for and managing it when it happens.
