About Phoebe Risher:
One of my earliest memories is peering out a bedroom window, mesmerized by an unexpected flicker of light against an ink-black sky. Was it a forgotten porch bulb, or a visitor from the other side? While I’ve (mostly) outgrown the conclusion that any anomaly represents my mortality, my curiosity has only grown.
Today I channel the same curiosity into my work as a professional facilitator, guiding groups through the big, often-unspoken subjects (ie - death, dying, and grief.) I’m also finishing a Master’s in Social Work at CSU, where I focus on community development.
Hosting the NoCo Queer Death Cafe feels like coming full circle: combining queerness, candid conversation, and the mysteries beyond life in one affirming space. My goal is to break taboos, cultivate brave spaces, and empower our community to live, and eventually die, boldly, authentically, and together.
I can’t wait to meet you around the table, hopefully before seeing you on the other side.
