About Death Cafe Maldon:
We are Leanne and Lesley, co-owners of Pure Gold Holistic & Wellbeing, a sacred space nestled in the heart of Maldon. Together, we offer healing, soulful connection, and a place where deep conversations and transformation can unfold. With backgrounds in energy healing, trauma release, intuitive therapy, and community facilitation, we are passionate about holding space for others to explore life’s mysteries—especially those often left unspoken.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
We believe death, like birth, is a sacred transition—one that deserves curiosity, presence, and honest conversation. Too often, death is pushed into the shadows, yet it is a part of all of us.
For Lesley, caring for her elderly mother at home has made death a more familiar and present topic—one that arises naturally in quiet conversations, everyday moments, and reflections on life’s fragility. These experiences have deepened her understanding of the importance of having safe, open spaces to talk about dying, grief, and what truly matters.
For Leanne, community has been a lifeline. Having personally walked through grief, trauma, and the complexities of mental health, she has been held and supported by others when she needed it most. One of her strongest values is giving back—and creating a space like this feels like a natural way to offer comfort, connection, and meaning to others on their journey.
We are holding this Death Cafe to offer a gentle, supportive space where people can talk openly about death, dying, grief, legacy, and the richness of life. By normalising these conversations, we hope to bring peace, insight, and connection to those navigating the tender terrain of mortality.
This Death Cafe will be held within our calm, sensory-rich shop space—a place imbued with love, healing, and the intention to make every visitor feel safe, seen, and heard.
What would you like your legacy to be?
We hope our legacy through the Death Cafe is one of softness, truth, and connection. That in opening this space, people felt less alone in their grief, more courageous in speaking about death, and more present in their living—supporting each other through the journey, both for themselves and for their loved ones.
This space is for anyone touched by death—those who are dying, those living with illness, those supporting someone they love, and those navigating grief. We also hold space for loved ones to express how they feel, to be heard, and to know they are not alone.

‘I did not Die’…By Lesley Jane
Spread your wings and fly to greater heights dear one.
Soar above the confines of death and let your spirit roam free.
You are now one with the earth, a treasure most valued.
You will never die, always in the memories of those you once cherished.
Never forgotten but worshipped and adored.
Do not fear change, as death is a testament of a life, long lived.
A wondrous journey through seeds of change, accomplishments.
Mishaps, trials, and tribulations fade away and are laid to rest.
The soul’s journey is infinite and you will live on.
Remember me as I did not die, but wait with open arms to cradle you in my embrace.
