About Karen Williamson:
I am a shroud maker with a background in palliative care, living in Northland Aotearoa. I feel very comfortable in the death worker space, advocating for sustainable funeral options and home led funerals through conversations with individuals and communities.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Ultimately, I want to see that people and communities have sovereignty over their own deaths. I believe it is important that, whatever their choice is, that they know their rights and options and make that choice freely. This is why run Death Cafes, because the more we talk about it, the more we know and the less we fear.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I want to know I had a part to play in bringing death care back into the domain of communities.
