About Martha B. Heymann:

I grew up in south Texas and while I have called other places home, found my way back following the death of my husband, to raise our twin boys in the comfort of family. I am here here only for the time being.

In January of 2019 I joined INELDA,  gaining my End of Life Doula training under the tutelage of Henry Fersko-Weiss, author of Caring for the Dying. I completed the certification for Holding Space on Loving Dying and Letting Go with Amy Glenn Wright, founder of the Birth, Breath, & Death Institute. And I incorporate NTD (Nurturing Touch for the Dying) by Elizabeth Erbrecht, into my doula practice.

Please feel free to email me at togetherforwarddoula@gmail.com if you have any questions.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

I am deeply passionate about normalizing the narrative around death, and companioning individuals through their own dying journey. It matters not to me one’s chosen faith, if any, one’s sexual preference, or the color of their beautiful skin. What is important to me is honoring another person’s final choices.

LGBTQ+ ally, member of the NAACP and supporter of Companion & Choices, working towards Death with Dignity for all.

Thoughts for sharing:

'All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on.'
