Death Cafe profile for Gary McCaslin

Location: United States

About Gary McCaslin:

Seventy trips around the Sun, husband for the last thirty seven, two daughters, three grandchildren, former elementary school teacher, retired American Baptist minister, toward the far end of liberal theological and political spectrum, not enough time to read all the books I want to read and wanting desperately to spend more time at ocean beaches before they disappear, dream often of walking down into the Grand Canyon...

What brings you to Death Cafe?

The amazingly simple model which offers participants the opportunity to talk about some of life's most profound questions.

What would you like your legacy to be?

Gary helped people see more wonder, amazement and humor in their days.

Thoughts for sharing:

The last lines from Mary Oliver's poem The Summer Day:

I do know how to pay attention,

how to fall down into the grass,

how to kneel down in the grass,

how to be idle and blessed,

how to stroll through the fields,

which is what I have been doing all day.

Tell me…  what else should I have done?

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me…  what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?
