About Wendy Kurchak:

Nursing, teaching, high school counselling; been there, done that. Now I'm certified in thanatology through the Association of Death Education and Counselling, as well as holding a Certificate in Professional Writing in Marketing and Public Relations through the University of Calgary, Alberta. Embarking on a new career as the Communication and Fund Development Coordinator for the Alberta Hospice Palliative Care Association. Perfect.

What brings you to Death Cafe?

There's nothing more fun than planning a party, so hosting a Death Cafe brings two of my passions together: reall life and death conversation in a party setting.

My volunteer work in hospice, my academic work for my certification, and my experience as an online instructor for thanatology courses revealed how seldom we talk about death and dying until we're face to tace with it.

Death Cafes are a creative, safe and relaxing space to start some of those challenging conversations.
