Well, we have met again. This evening was a chilly night for the Sebastian Florida area. We had a group of six, five women and one man. This was our first evening meeting at the local library. The environment was quiet and comfortably warm. A happy skull with a hat and sunglasses has become our mascot, we call him D.C.. This in and of itself livened up the conversation. Was it ghoulish and/or disrespectful to have such a centerpiece. We discussed life and death as a continuum, not a black and white cut off. The discussion of near death experience was revisited. hello everyone,
we have had two gatherings in indian river co., fl this month. our monday evening on dec 9th brought a new mix of people and we again navigated unchartered territory. we explored sudden death vs. expected eath,. the effects of possible and actual death as it pertained to our ww2 veterans. as we all know, these events are not for bereavment, however, we are finding it challenging to separate the two. we again discussed near death experience.

completion of this evenings death cafe took us all somewhere we didnt expect. in the pursuit of a better finite life, we realized how many deaths we experience of people we know who are still alive. death does not require the end of a pulse or a respiration. active members of society, can in a way become "dead" to us. geographical and interpersonal distances can contribute to disconnection. members were varied on their response to this on a range from "not bothered at all", to "very bothered". we also reviewed interprtations of various stages of grief and the length of time grief requires. the type of relationship contributes ...

hello everyone, fall is upon us and our gatherings continue bi-monthly. we had a dynamic group this morning at our vero beach setting at the brackett library. some new faces and some return guests. our last gathering resulted in an additional write up in our local press journal paper regarding the cafe'. we think this brought some new faces. again, with angie at the helm, the conversation was left free form. it seems to be working well. there were a total of 13 people today. we are now attracting some younger participants as well. as we all know, death and religion are quite a tangled topic. our direction ...

We gathered locally for cafe number five. it was a wonderful gathering with a variety of topics. near death experiences, fear of death, funeral attendance were some avenues we traveled down. we were joined by a representative from our local press journal who contributed as well as took away from the conversation. as a group we are growing in knowledge. we are also having fun exploring these new found friendships. our format remains free form, as it is working well.our latest contribution is the development of a reading list gathered from participants which we will be posting on our facebook page. next session is oct 21st in ...
