Death Cafe write up: Prison Death Cafe

Posted by Candy Penfold on June 6, 2026, 5:46 a.m.

Unfortunately this was my smallest session by far, but we still had a wonderful conversation - it ended up talking about food, so I talked about a death dinner I had been to and then we all talked about food that reminded us of people who had died.

I was very glad I brought the millionaires shortbread - that was by far the best cake to bring (also helped being vegan and gluten free!)

Truly magic, as always, just the greatest honour to hold this space.

Death Café Reflection

Our recent Death Café provided a warm, uplifting, and soulful space where people came together with open hearts and curious minds. Over tea, cake, and heartfelt conversation, participants shared thoughts, experiences, and reflections on death and dying in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The gathering encouraged meaningful dialogue, allowing individuals to explore a topic that is often difficult to discuss openly. Conversations were thoughtful, honest, and compassionate, creating a sense of connection and understanding among those who attended.

Many participants expressed appreciation for having a safe space to reflect on life's uncertainties, share personal experiences, and listen to the perspectives of others. The atmosphere ...
