“The art of dying graciously is nowhere advertised, in spite of the fact that its market potential is great.” Milton Mayer
It’s a funny thing death, isn’t it? And yet how we ignore it. Which is a shame because death is an extraordinary subject and one I wish we would talk about more.
So here are my 3 reasons why death doesn’t have to be seen as morbid, but instead something that ...

Suddenly ... Death was in my face ... What Now?
The end of a life on earth as we know it.
Unimaginable that this is happening. Everything… everything I know… everything I believe is in my face and suddenly I don't know anymore. I don't believe anything.
I'm just sitting in the experience of death.
Whatever your belief system, however those beliefs resonate for you, suddenly this overwhelming experience is in your face.
Whatever ...

Googling, "Death," got me here. I'd never heard of Death Cafe, but I'm super glad I have now.
I recently started a blog that references death and related themes in popular media. (Which is why I was searching online for Death.)
I'm online frequently, and up for voice chatting, penpals, and instant messaging. Feel free to IM or e-mail me at cloverlimes@aim.com.
I created this photograph, in the winter of 2014, as a reaction to the death of a husband. It was exhibited at the Southampton Cultural Center in Southampton, New York and at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York, all in 2014. I am a professional artist/photographer and all my images are for sale and may be customized.

I am being beaten to death (pardon the pun) with the pink, the perky, the hopeful, and the living but NO ONE wants to discuss the very large, dead elephant in the room ...

I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart

Death Cafe write up: Death Cafe - family & friends event

I love facilitating conversations about death and dying...it's my passion. So, how lucky was I to be able to share my passion with friends and family!
In many ways the conversation flowed as it always does, and the sharing seemed as intimate as it always is when I facilitate Death Cafe's for the public. These conversations appear to transcend family and friends, to a human level. It doesn't matter if you're my immediate family, a dear friend or a complete stranger, the intimacy and sense of community goes deeper than even these connections.
I am fascinated by the interaction. And I am fascinated ...

As we talked this month it became clear that for many, death, perhaps because it is inevitable, is not really what scares us. Dying does and not knowing what comes next is what is truly unsettling. We have a choice about whether or not to be afraid of death, or we can at least do our best to condition ourselves to the ...
