Link: Baby's Death A True Cinderella Story

Posted by Joanna on Oct. 16, 2015, 3:52 a.m.

This is the true story of my baby's life and death. I ask some pertinent questions: should life be prolonged against the odds? Should doctors try to save every life even when the odds are slim? Should nature be allowed to take its course?

Hello,

I've now got a date for the Death Cafe in Cambridge - 26th November, 7-9. I want to make a simple poster to advertise this and am wondering whether I can use the line drawing of the teacup with a skull on it and if so where I can ...

I found the experience of the Death Cafe rich and purposeful....it always challenges me to face that death is all our fate and to feel the realness of people's responses to death. Having said that it was not all doom and gloom and was a privilleged and interesting experience with some learning and some wonder ... and the cake was really good ... thank you for all those that shared

A small but positive start.

Run in my own home so a comfortable environment and people commented how the Chai tea was a winner!

Discussion was open and freeflowing. Topics ranged from a 21 year old American male discussing the suicide of a room mate and the impact on him, how he now deals more proactively with depression in colleagues to let them know they have options and relief of being able to speak about it to others. Another attendee was older and death literate, had experienced breast cancer that sharpened her awareness in this area.  She clarified the importance of end-of-life discussions in creating normalcy in this ...

Death Cafe write up: Delaware county Death Cafe

We had a total of 6 participating. 2 of us as the planner and facilitator. We thought the first one went well. We have decided to hold another in January of 2016.

We felt we were not able to have our death cafe publisized as well as we would have liked. Attempts were made to have local paper do an interview, but they declined.

We will make flyers for the next one!

Many thanks to the 12 very different people who attended the Glastonbury Death Cafe at The Lazy Gecko today.

It was my first experience of Death Cafe, and a couple of our guests had attended a huge one up at Bristol so in many ways they know more than their facilitator!

Interestingly, most of the conversation centred around funeral planning and last wishes, but other topics came up and will be brought into future cafes.

There was some great feedback at the end, with the suggestion of splitting up into smaller groups being something I will definitely implement in the future.

The magic hat donation raised over £7 ...

Our 9/26 meeting was amazing! We unveiled our Before I Die wall that will be secured on the outside of the Miscellanea House Cafe. Over 11 participants signed the wall and we discussed the wall that will be unveiled at Southwestern Illinois College's Schmidt Art Center patio on 10/12 starting at 9am. We were pleased to see some diversity in signatures. We had signatures in English, Chinese, Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish. The wall will be attached to the side of the Miscellanea House Cafe on Monday, 10/5.

We continued discussion on prearrangements and the importance of starting the conversation. This also took us back ...

Death Cafe write up: Death Cafe Brixton, London

Our first public meeting of Brixton Death Café got off to a challenging start when wearrived to find that the space we had booked upstairs had been flooded by heavy rain. Not to be put off, however,we rapidly set up in a downstairs bar instead. By the time the attenders arrived each table had a plate of cakes and biscuits and an explanatory flyer. The flyer was an aide memoir, reiterating the purpose and rules of Death Café. It also invited each person to introduce themselves and say why they had come to the event: That topics would evolve organically from this.

There were sixteen of us ...

We had our 1st Death Cafe & planning our 2nd, great turnout of 14 people. However, 4 of those people left an hr into it, which cause a uncohesive flow & disrupted conversation. Two said they could not stay because of an appointment & the other 2 - used this as the opportunity to ...
