Buy your cuppa/cake at the main counter, them join us in the meeting room for a stimulating afternoon of discussion. No fees, no agenda, no guest speakers, just free-ranging conversation about anything and everything to do with death, dying and bereavement. All welcome.
About Kate Thomas/Irene Montefiore
Kate and Irene have been hosting monthly Death Cafe gatherings in Albany for five years. Kate was a palliative care nurse and practice nurse before her retirement and is a popular civil celebrant. She is this year's Albany Citizen of the Year - an award recognising her work in opening up conversations about death.
Since Irene retired from her radio career, she has devoted much of her "free" time to health consumer advocacy, which has increasingly tended towards end of life care and choices. She is currently involved in a Compassionate Communities project working to increase death literacy and palliative care choices.
