About this Death Cafe

Join us in a relaxed setting to drink tea /coffee & to eat cake whilst discussing anything you want to in relation to death and dying, life and living.

As part of Redbridge Libraries' celebration of Women's History Month, this special Death Cafe is for women only.

Our Library Death Cafe is a safe, confidential and supportive space to talk or just listen -Friendly, informative and intimate. Please note that this is not a grief support or counselling session so is not suitable for anyone sufffering bereavment or who maybe feeling vulnerable about the subject of death.

The session will be facilitated by Hasina Zaman from Compassionate Funerals.

This session is part of The Redbridge Final Party Project - A project aimed at sparking conversations and discussion about death, dying, life and living through a series of events and workshops which help us celebrate life whilst removing fear and barriers around the subject of death.

The project is funded through the Engaging Libraries programme administered by Welcome Trust & Carnegie Trust.

About Compassionate Funerals with South Woodford Library

Hasina Zaman is the CEO of Compassionate Funerals, founded in Sept 2012.

Hasina quickly realised that the public feared and stayed away from engaging with and embracing death, dying and bereavement. She decided to help open up this difficult subject, and host Death Cafes, in partnership with a variety of community groups. The aim is to demystify this taboo subject in a safe and welcoming environment, and to enjoy the fascinating, personal, and healing conversations that emerge.
