About this Death Cafe

Compassionate Funerals in Partnership with Redbridge libraries have put on a series of events through out 2018 called "The Final Party" It's aim is to help normalize the conversation about death and dying.

Wanstead Fringe Death Cafe is part of this project

Join us in this unusual setting, surrounded by the collected words & thoughts of thousands of authors, to drink tea, coffee & to eat cake whilst discussing anything you want to in relation to death and dying, life and living.

Our Library Death Cafe is a safe, confidential and supportive space to talk or just listen -Friendly, informative and intimate. Please note that this is not a grief support or counseling session.

The session will be facilitated by Hasina Zaman from Compassionate Funerals.

Engaging Libraries is funded by The Welcome Trust and The Carnegie Trust.

About Hasina Zaman

In May 2015, my eldest brother died, I led his funeral and in his memory hosted a Death Café. The theme that evolved was the journey of the soul.

Hosting Death Cafes allowed me to experience and embrace difficult conversations on death & dying. Death Cafe attracts people from all walks of life who share their experience of personal bereavement, planning our departure, feelings about their own death and different types of death, i.e. suicide, accidental, baby/child to sudden deaths. Death Café is an open and safe space that allows people to explore deep unresolved experiences and can be a hugely healing. Each Death Cafe has a natural occurring theme.
