About this Death Cafe

Gloria and Renee were at the forefront of changing the culture of birth in the Detroit Area. as Midwives/Doulas and Childbirth Educators, we learned as much from our clients as they learned from us. Now we are led to help usher in the change in the culture of end of life/death. We believe that by opening the conversation on Death we will be "Helping people make the most of their finite lives". We also believe in the birth axiom "If you don't know your options, you don't have any." We are very excited to have Stephanie join us in getting the conversation started and bringing Death out of the closet. Come let us learn together!

About Gloria Cunningham

Gloria Cunningham is a retired Midwife/Doula now focusing on end of life. Gloria is an End of Life Doula, Respecting Choices Advanced Care Planning facilitator and Threshold Choir member.

Renee Gauthier is a retired Midwife, massage therapist, End of Life Doula and Respecting Choices Advanced Care Planning facilitator.

Stefanie Doetzkies sought a career in nursing to empower the act of loving. Ever since she completed the course, "Changing the Face of Death" in her schooling, she learned the importance of talking about death, dying and end of life care. Through her personal and nursing experiences, she began to realize that in order to live life, we must discuss death.
