About this Death Cafe
Death cafe is a community space for discussion of all aspects of death, dying, and living with the conscious awareness of death. We hold a group-oriented discussion with no specific agenda or biases. It is just a space for people to openly share ideas, feelings, experiences, questions, concerns and honor death in order to make the most of their finite lives.
About Maggie and Sharon
Maggie is a retired instructor for Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Illinois in the psychology department her usual classes consisted of General Psychology, Child Development, Psychology of Women, and Death & Dying. Her favorite class to teach was Death & Dying. She was also an online instructor for the University of Phoenix in their College of Social Sciences teaching Psychological Tests & Measurements. She is also an advocate trainer and active volunteer for CASA of Southwestern Illinois since 2006 training volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system.
Sharon is a retired nurse who has worked in palliative care with terminally ill patients and owner of the Miscellaneous House Café.
