About this Death Cafe

Our intention is to open a conversation that will continue long after the cafe closes, a conversation about death & dying.

We believe that talking about death and embracing your own mortality can be a life defining & enhancing experience.

Joan Halifax says in 'Being with Dying',

"Life threatening illness calls us to a place - metaphorically a desert or mountain peak - where, as we sit, the hard wind of reality strips away all the trappings of life, like so much clothing, makeup, and accessories. We are left naked, only "me" with my in-breath and out-breath in this moment, here and now"

About Allistair Anderson

Allistair has 20 years experience of working in a wide variety of roles with some of the best local and national undertakers, cemeteries and crematoria in London.

 

Allistair regards it as the highest honour to be able to serve people at one of the most difficult, life-changing moments in their own lives.

 

He believes in empowering people, so they have control and are able to have the funeral they want & need.
