About this Death Cafe
Next week Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, will be celebrated in communities across the U.S. The primarily Mexican holiday is rooted in the belief that the veil between the mortal and immortal worlds thins, allowing deceased spirits to cross over to the living world to be with loved ones.
Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is primarily celebrated on November 1 and November 2, 2026. In 2026, these dates fall on a Sunday and Monday, respectively.
- November 1 is dedicated to Día de los Angelitos (or Día de los Inocentes), honoring children who have died.
- November 2 is the main Día de Muertos, honoring deceased adults.
Join us at the Library for this celebration and compelling conversations, with cake and tea or coffee.
Death Cafes are free to attend; donations for refreshments are accepted. Registration is required.
About Chapin Memorial Library
Sit around the table for intriguing topics at this monthly Death Cafe facilitated by veteran Death Cafe facilitator, Brian Long.
Since introducing the Death Cafe in Lancster County in 2026, Brian's begun Death Cafes here in Myrtle Beach. The twice monthly Death Cafes held at Chapin Memorial have brought together dozens of people to exchange questions, situations, experiences and thoughts that sometime need exploration.
