About this Death Cafe
None of your friends want to talk about Deeeeeeeeath? We do!
Join this casual, lightly facilitated gathering of like-minded, death-curious friends and strangers over coffee/tea or, in this case, cocktails/soda.
Each gathering is gently facilitated using the Death Deck as a conversation prompt. Just bring your practical, spiritual, serious, or irreverent thoughts, questions - and an open mind.
The So Long Salon Death Café is an intentionally welcoming space for the curious, the unconventional, the philosophical, the plan-aheaders and everyone who’s ever felt awkward speaking up in the wrong room — LGBTQ+ folks, people who are a little “extra,” the ones whose families “don’t do feelings,” whatever, all are welcome.
No agenda, no right answers, no pressure. Talking about death has never been so fun!

I’m Jennifer Phelps — Professional Organizer, End-of-Life Educator and the kind of person who thinks talking about death should come with a cocktail (or mocktail), an open heart and maybe even a laugh or two.
I’ve spent nearly two decades helping people untangle the practical and emotional messes that pile up during life and clear the ones left behind.
Both professionally and personally as a daughter, granddaughter, niece and friend —I’ve always felt that the biggest messes are the conversations we never had. So yes, I’m the one that makes my family sigh and say, “Here comes Jennifer, always wanting to talk about deeeeeath.”
I created the So Long Salon Death Café for people like me, because I wanted a space that feels less like a funeral and more like your most honest, warm, slightly weird dinner party — where nothing is off limits and nobody has to pretend they’re fine with not talking about it.
I believe these conversations can be sacred and a little funky, heavy and surprisingly fun and that the right room full of friends and strangers can help us, eventually, face death on our own terms.
