About this Death Cafe
This Cafe is run as a conversational space for anything participants want to discuss related to death and dying. This cafe has the flavour of friends and family in community - we cry, laugh, explore different beliefs. As a therapist, I do bring a flavour of introspection and reflection, and aim to curate pauses and grounding moments when emotional material is tender or raw. You can expect a depth of emotional material, experiences of loss and what the heart wants to share, alongside more curious or philosophical discussion.
About Sarah
I am a therapist living and working in the unceded and ancestral lands of the Quw'utsun peoples, also known as the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. I have worked for over twenty years in the areas of somatic therapy for complex trauma and also facilitate groups for those with life-limiting illnesses nearing their end-of-life. I am interested in the spiritual transformation and growth of individuals through their experiences of trauma, loss/death, and through the natural arc and development across the life-span. I weave in energy modalities, such as Qi Qong, Conscious Connected Breathwork, nature-based wisdom and therapeutic touch into my life and work with individuals and in community and group settings.
