About this Death Cafe
Death is a natural part of life—so let’s talk about it. Join us for relaxed, group-led conversations with no set agenda by Kristin Steckbauer a nurse, End of Life Doula, and Hospice volunteer. These gatherings provide a welcoming space to share thoughts, explore perspectives, and build a deeper understanding and acceptance of death and dying.
Our goal is to encourage open dialogue in a respectful environment that fosters awareness and reflection. These monthly discussions are confidential and are not intended to guide participants toward any particular conclusions. Please note, this is not a grief support group or counseling session—just honest, thoughtful conversations that can help us reflect and live more meaningful lives.
About Me, Kristin Steckbauer
Hello, it's Kristin.
I realize many have not commonly heard of End Of Life (EOL) Care Doulas. In this much needed field, the care focuses on the human level of EOL preparation, opposed to medical. This movement reorients society to its old traditions that are thankfully resurfacing into modern care.
A doula works hand-in-hand to compliment and enhance necessary services like hospice. Personally, as a nurse who has worked in many traditional medical care settings, I know we can't possibly handle it all, even though it is expected. That's where doula work comes in; to be there when others can't. We fill the liminal space so there are less gaps for the dying and their loved ones.
Along with my diverse education, I have also studied with numerous, well known leaders in this industry and I look forward to bringing this emerging field of empathetic, death work forward in my unique way. To help familiarize the public, I am starting to offer various public information sessions and I also welcome questions about local or tele-focused work. I currently have Instagram and Facebook pages and will soon have additional social media platforms available as well. In addition to that, I will continue to expand my training and services so stay tuned.
