About this Death Cafe
Since 2016, I’ve facilitated over 80 Death Cafes in Pennsylvania and South Carolina, each one affirming that talking about death is really about embracing life. Too often, we avoid conversations about death because they feel uncomfortable or frightening, or simply because we don’t know where to begin. Death Cafes exist to change that. In a safe, welcoming, and confidential space, people gather not for therapy or grief support, but for open, honest dialogue about dying, loss, and the ways these experiences shape how we live and love.
At the Chapin Memorial Library in Myrtle Beach, our Death Cafe is a place to explore questions, share stories, and reflect on what it means to leave behind a meaningful legacy. There’s no agenda or lecture—just thoughtful conversation over coffee and cake. Whether you’re curious, anxious, grieving, or simply seeking deeper connection, you’ll find people willing to listen without judgment. In talking about death, we discover insights about life itself—and often leave feeling more connected, courageous, and inspired.
