About this Death Cafe

The North Denver Death Café is an open forum. We intend to create space for and support positive conversations about end-of-life. When we talk about death, we help to lessen the taboos associated with it. The Death Cafe is a great place to explore ideas and ask questions. Your questions, fears, observations, and curiosity are welcome. We will not have a set topic, but we will have prompts should they be needed. Join us at Convivio Café for great coffee, yummy treats, and thoughtful conversation.

About Marti Steger & Beth Leyba

A Mestiza Chicana with ancestral ties to southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, Beth weaves ancestral knowledge into all she does. Her deathwork services include pre-planning for final disposition and final wishes, crafting ceremony and ritual for home funerals or any type of memorial service, assistance with writing obituaries, and eulogies, and she is a skilled officiant. In addition to deathwork, she is an Enneagram Guide and Yoga Teacher. Her own experiences with loss, grief, and reclamation of ancestral wisdom have shaped her personal and professional purpose, and it is an honor to hold space with others as they navigate the sacred transition of death, be it their own or a loved one’s. Beth is a member of the LGBTQ community as well as a proud mom of her beloved “gaybies”.

Marti owns Pathways to Journey as a death doula and an earth-based, heart-centered healer and ritualist with more than 10 years of healing arts experience. She is passionate about weaving the importance of acknowledging individual autonomy in life with conversations around death and dying. She lives her gift journeying with the dying and their loved-ones and supporting unique journeys to energetic restoration and healing. She is honored to work with people with disabilities, BIPOC and LGBTIQA+ community members.
