About this Death Cafe

Since relocating to this area, several people have suggested to the facilitator that the Death Cafe model may be of interest to many in the area.

This is the first of these intimate Death Cafes we're holding to gauge interest in the Grand Strand.

A Death Cafe is a unique social gathering where people come together to discuss topics related to death and dying in a comfortable and supportive environment. The concept originated in Switzerland in 2004 and has since spread globally.

Participants typically enjoy tea, coffee, and cake while engaging in open and honest conversations about death, end-of-life experiences, grief, and other related topics. The aim is to normalize discussions around death and promote greater awareness of mortality, encouraging individuals to live more fully in the present. It's not a therapy or grief support session but rather a safe space for exploration and reflection.

About Old Town Crepes

Brian Long is the facilitator for this first Myrtle Beach Death Cafe at Old Town Crepes.

Before relocating to the Grand Strand area a few years ago, he facilitated over 75 Death Cafes in the southcentral Pennsylvania region.
