About this Death Cafe

Encouraging honest and thoughtful conversations about death and dying over coffee and cake!

Death is an inevitable part of life yet most of us find it a very difficult topic to talk about. I want to normalize the conversation and help lead the discussion by providing a safe and informal space to talk about your thoughts and feelings around death and dying.

I’m looking at starting up monthly death cafes which are free and open to anyone, to speak freely and without judgement. There is no set agenda for a death café meeting just facilitated discussion following the interests of those attending.

Taking time to reflect on death is something we can all do. When we spend time talking about death, we find that it helps remove the fear around it.

About Alpha Omega Remedies of Grace and Doula Services

Hi! I am Crystal, I am glad you are here!!

My journey in healthcare formally began about 24 years ago. I started my career as a care taker/ home health aid in 1999. In 2005 I became a Certified Nursing Assistant for a local Long Term Care facility. In 2008 I began nursing school and officially became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2009. I started my Nursing career in Correctional Nursing which lasted about 6 years and ended as a Health Service Administrator of a 500 bed facility as well as a 25 bed Juvenile Center. I followed my Correctional Nursing career with a small stent in Dermatology as well as Long Term Care again, this time as a Nurse/Care Plan Coordinator which then lead me to my love of Hospice where I have been serving as a Hospice Nurse for over 4 years with the last 2 years as an on call/critical care nurse. I was able to find love of holistic medicine during this time with those who have loved ones or themselves in palliative care and Hospice.

I am a student midwife through The Midwifery Institute and I am also a student at Kingdom College of Natural Health for my Doctorate in Herbal Medicine, this allows me additional perspectives into the world of holistic/herbal medicine, preparation & options. My goal when working with families and/or individuals is to reach a place of peace and healing of ailments naturally as well as assisting with new life and with the difficult road ahead of end of life. I feel that we all have something that fits into one of these categories.
