About this Death Cafe
Coming across "Dying to Know Day" and this year's theme 'Get Dead Set' prompted some conversation with people visiting Milpara Community House. It was quickly realised that many people are not having conversations around death - feeling it's an awkward topic to bring up. But when given the opportunity, people really value and engage in these conversations. We'd love to provide a space and time that people feel comfortable and safe to do this. That's our reason for running the Death Cafe. Our first Korumburra Death Cafe was really enjoyed by all who attended so we're doing it again.
About Sarah Kerwick
Sarah lives in Korumburra and is passionate about helping people look after each other.
Sarah is interested in supporting conversations that help with understanding and planning for end of life and after death.
She believes that Death Cafes provide an opportunity to set aside time with others to reflect, explore, listen and share. This can offer new perspectives on priorities for today, can ease fear, increase confidence to have challenging conversations, and may be an important gift to ourselves or those we love most.
Sarah is a death doula, funeral celebrant and social worker with experience in group facilitation.
