About this Death Cafe

I host these Death Cafes for Queer and Trans People of the Global Majority, including Mixed folks (QTBIPOC) to talk as a community openly and honestly about our unique experiences with death and loss and how it is viewed through a lens of systemic oppression and marginalization.

This death cafe repeats and is held on the following additional dates at the same time: 11/29, 12/27

About Ori Aguila, Death Companion & Grief Educator

Ori, an elder queer of 40+ years, is also known as The Death Companion. They are a Trans and Two-Spirit Death & Adoptee Companion, Grief Guide & Educator, Creative Clarisentient, Energetic Healing Practitioner, and a Writer. You can find them on Tik Tok creating informative and engaging content or traversing the realm of tarot, divination, brujeria, and energetic medicine as a practitioner and a curanderx in training. When not reading 5 books at a time, Ori hosts a podcast called "Queering Death" where they explore interviews with Queer and Trans folks on their unique experiences with grief, shadow loss, and end of life. Their work is community focused and built upon a foundation of trauma-informed/responsive training, lived experience as well as healing-centered engagement. Ori makes their home in NYC amongst the piles of books, plants, altars, music and bustling traffic below their peaceful pre-war apartment.
