I love people, I love talking with them and hearing about their life and being a support.
To share the Death Cafe conversations seems like a natural next step. With my life experience I feel I am of value to the community and humanity.
I am accepting donations because I have to pay rent.
About Cheryl Opie
I am a Mother of 2 girls and a Grandmother of 2 boys and 3 girls, all of whom I cherish and adore. I have been married to the same man for 51 years...amazing eh? I'm in my wisdom years.
I have been teaching a creative healing painting process for 19 years and hope to continue doing so for as long as I live. I don't believe in retiring.

In the lessons we discuss all aspects of life, including death. We also do a Gentle Breath Meditation.
I have done cancer support work for over 30 years, so am used to talking to people about death.
As I'm ageing and friends and family are dying, I have become more interested in the process and the different options available.
At the funeral of a good friend I thought the celebrant was not at all compassionate and it inspired me to become a funeral celebrant, knowing that the role was a perfect one for me.
I belong to an over 70's group of wise elders where we discuss these things openly, without fear and we have fun.
So when I discovered Death Cafe it seemed like a natural thing for me to do.
