About this Death Cafe

Join us for our bi-monthly Secular Hub Death Café where we gather to eat cake, drink tea and have a death positive informal group discussion! Heili Lehr and Stephanie Latta (aka the "Death Duo") are your facilitators. This is not a grief group or a presentation, just an open dialogue about how to make the most of our time-limited mortal lives, our feelings about death and dying, and what it means to be mortal in a secular context.

NOTE:  A very special apology to anyone who may have shown up for our December 14th event which unfortunately had to be cancelled last minute - I know not everyone got the word about the cancellation in time.  Heili came down suddenly with a terribly contagious Norovirus and Stephanie was unable to step in and take over because of an emergency dental surgery!  We work as a team so that one can take over if the other has an emergency but it has never happened before that we both had an emergency situation at the same time.  I'm terribly sorry if you came to the Hub on the 14th and didn't get the word.  

About Heili and Stephanie

Heili Lehr is an MA in counseling student at Regis University who is specializing in end-of-life and grief counseling and is a hospice volunteer and secular humanist.   Stephanie Latta is a MS in Gerontology student at Kansas State University, a Humanist Celebrant and death mid-wife.  Together we are the “death duo” and our mission is to encourage and facilitate death positive conversation, open dialogue and acceptance.
