About MelanieTheCreatrix:
Hi...I'm an author, artist and photographer. Looking at the world through the lens of my camera slows me down and nourishes my soul.
I love discovering and sharing creative approaches to living a more authentic and fulfilling life.
The Thankyou Project is a charity I started in 2011 to help create a new currency of kindness based on gratitude.
I have published four books; including Goodbye - for Times of Sadness & Loss.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
For me it began with a series of white photographs I had taken in my travels around the globe. The pictures gave me a peaceful feeling and asked for a wider audience.
I began working on a book called Goodbye and halfway through the process my own life was thrown into disarray. So many changes, so much confusion.
The book ultimately and ironically supported my own healing and I've been following the trail of breadcrumbs ever since.
It has led me to a Certificate in Grief Support, and to becoming a DeathWalker. I'm excited about hosting conversations in the Death Cafe format to ultimately wake myself up to living this amazing life more fully and more consciously.
What would you like your legacy to be?
That I helped shift consciousness using my creativity

Sunday's Death Cafe here in Christchurch was awesome and delicious. There were 9 courageous and curious souls, most of us strangers, who met over coffee and cake for a 2 hour conversation about death and dying.
Some of the things we discussed were Soul Midwifery, what it means to 'hold space' for the dying, Natural Burial in NZ, DeathWalker Training, Preparations paperwork and tidying up for our own deaths, Narrative Therapy used for the Dying and the Bereaved, as well as some very beautiful and poignant personal experiences that people shared.
