I have been a Physical Therapist for the past 31 years working in the Geriatric setting and in the south Florida area. In that time I have seen the gradual increase in acceptance of hospice as well as the increasing growth in the number of agencies. Though I never had direct contact until we used hospice in Philadelphia for my Dad and it was a wonderful albeit sad experience.
My Mom predeceased him by 7 months so 2013 was not the best year. I have few health issues and since my parents passed, have firmly decided I want to go before it gets hard. Working with people in their late 80's early 90's having joint replacements, bypass surgeries I have to bite my tongue so I don't ask why.
Most of these people don't want to die. I personally believe I will be with my parents again and how great that will be!
When I read about Death Cafes in the paper yesterday it made me smile.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I believe God has me here to enjoy life and be nice to people, be respectful, and treat everyone like I want to be treated.
Hopefully people say I met that goal.
