December 11, 2013
On a cold Winter night, 12 people entered the gates of the West Laurel Hill Cemetery, followed the snow covered path toward the Bringhurst Funeral Home, and gathered in the atrium.
As with most gatherings at the funeral home, the topic at hand was death; however, this was not your normal death conversation. There was calm in the air, and there were no tears, eulogies, or final goodbyes. Instead, there was coffee, tea, cookies, and lively conversation, including laughter. This was the first Main Line Death Café, hosted by Rachel Zeldin of Funerals360 and Simcha Raphael of the DA’AT Institute as part of the ...

The 2ndDeath Café Philadelphia & Greater Philadelphia took place Thursday October 24th with a “wonderful” and “thought-provoking” gathering at COSI Rittenhouse.
Hosted by Simcha Raphael of the DA’AT Institute and Rachel Zeldin of Funerals360, this diverse group of Philadelphians converged to have, as our participants noted, “open”, “authentic,” and “fascinating” conversations centered around personal & professional experiences, fears, wishes, and how to get the most out of the life that we have been given.
This was a very diverse set of Philadelphians. Twenty-five people were in attendance ranging from early 20s to 70s, representing a wide variety of ethnicities & backgrounds. Listening to the various threads of conversation ...

Funerals360 proudly supported the first Death Cafe Philadelphia Monday night at Saxbys UPenn. Over 30 people attended this "macabre Meetup" to join in some lively discussion about life's heavier topic over coffee, tea, and cake.
Attendees from all backgrounds participated, ranging from a physicist to hospice nurses. A med student to the "regular" at the coffee shop. Men and women old and young joined in to story tell, reminisce, talk about one's own fears of death, and discuss their bucket lists.
The event received some initial press from WHYY, which quickly ...
