Brooke is a death doula and grief guide based in Collingwood, Ontario, dedicated to helping individuals and families approach death with presence and compassion. She creates gentle, reflective spaces where people can explore their thoughts, fears, and experiences around death, and find support in navigating grief and loss.
With a background in accounting and business consulting, Brooke brings a grounded, organized, and thoughtful approach to her work. She believes that talking about death can deepen our connection to life, strengthen community, and offer clarity and comfort during life’s most profound transitions.
Outside of her doula work, Brooke enjoys traveling, surfing, foraging for mushrooms, spending time in nature, and nurturing meaningful connections within her community.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
I’m drawn to Death Café because I believe that talking openly about death helps us live more fully. These gatherings create a gentle, non-judgmental space where people can explore their thoughts, fears, and experiences around death. For me, it’s about connecting with others, witnessing their stories, and supporting a culture where death is seen as a natural part of life rather than something to fear or avoid.
What would you like your legacy to be?
I hope my legacy is one of presence, compassion, and gentle guidance. I want to be remembered as someone who helped others face life and death with openness and courage, who nurtured connection and understanding, and who created spaces where people felt seen, heard, and supported.
Thoughts for sharing:
I believe that death is a natural threshold, a part of life that invites presence, reflection, and connection. By talking about death openly, we can cultivate compassion for ourselves and others, live with greater clarity, and embrace the preciousness of the time we have. Death reminds us what truly matters — love, community, and meaning.
