What brings you to Death Cafe?
Many times when I have brought the topic of death up in circles of friends (or awkwardly and ill-timed amongst groups of strangers), I could feel the energy in the space shift. There was a sense that I had "brought the room down" with my desire to discuss the often stigmatized and taboo topic of death.
The first time I attended a Death Cafe though, I could feel the energy within me shift. I felt hydrated inside; I did not realize the extent of how parched I was by the lack of death discussions in my life until I finally encountered a space where I was welcomed to share freely with no worries about awkwardness, ill-timing, or bringing rooms down.
