What brings you to Death Cafe?
I'm delighted to discuss and talk about death in a bright, warm, and welcoming light and think a Death Cafe is an excellent idea. My hope is to reach to those in a new setting and break the taboo of one of the most realistic inevitabilites of our life, and that it doesn't need to be something mourned.
What would you like your legacy to be?
Death is the only certainty we are given in this life and if we do not enjoy every minute, we won't have lived in the one time we have. To quote The Fastest Indian, "If you don't go when you want to go, when you do go, you'll find you're gone."
Thoughts for sharing:
To quote The Sandman comics, "You lived what anybody gets... You got a lifetime. No more. No less." It is the one thing that is inevitable in life and makes life all the more precious.

Attendance was small again this month, but Skully enjoyed a warm chai while talking about how there are some tribal cultures that still go through ritual cannibalism as part of their funeral services.

While few were in attendance, Skully had a wonderful time as always learning about the difficulties and moral questions of dying for the disabled and the incarcerated in the United States. Complex questions of assistance in dying was also mentioned with these groups.
The affogato was legendary, especially with oreo crumbs and hot fudge!

While there were few people in attendance, unique cultural views of death and burial were learned and explored. Focusing on China, unspoken complexity of dying was learned as land isn't allotted to cemeteries, creating a digital tombstone that can be cleaned and maintained to ensure the ancestors are remembered and cared for. "Skully" the skeleton cat was happy to be present; the atmosphere was welcoming and the mocha was delicious!
