About Natalie:
Hi, I'm Natalie. I am a trained Death Doula and Grief Navigator along with providing personal assistance to our elders. I have a huge heart for old people and things and love talking with people about death and dying. I am on a mission to make death and dying better for everyone instead of a scary taboo. And to help people realize that they have lots of options and it doesn't have to be a stark medical event.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Just trying to reach as many people as I can to discuss death, what it means to us, how we have experienced it and so on. Getting more people to talk openly about this is a step in a positive direction for humanity.
What would you like your legacy to be?
that I was a strong and supportive mother and friend
Thoughts for sharing:
Death can be peaceful and beautiful and on your terms.
Grief is fluid
we will ALL experience both

This was an awesome event. About 30 people attended and it lasted around 90 minutes. Cake and coffee were served. The space and tables were decorate. People in their 20s to people in their 80s. It was interesting how the discussion evolved around losing other people and pets as opposed to talking about our own deaths. Not sure if this means more people need support around grief or are we just that adverse to facing our own demise?
Omaha is becoming more death curious! Lots of ppl asking for another so looking at planning one for November possibly.

Talking openly about death and dying is an important step in bringing us all closer to acceptance and peace around the subject.
Death and dying has gotten the short end ...
