About Katie Sharrock:
I'm glad to offer space for people to talk about death and dying as its the only thing we can be certain of in this life - the reality that we will die. And it is quite simple: we breathe out, and don't breathe in again! So I offer a space for people to talk, question and relate to this one certainty of life. I look forward to meeting you there.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
Curiosity with finding ways to come to terms with the certainty of death. In an open and non-judgemental space where we feel safe to share, hearing the views, thoughts and experiences of others enable us begin to navigate the journey towards our own death, so we may meet it with equanimity, peace, and ulitmately, love.
Thoughts for sharing:
Above the entrance to St Paul's monastery in Mount Athos in Greece reads the inscription: "If you die before you die, then you won't die when you die." This quotation refers to the exclusive ritual of Ancient Greece known as the Eleusinian Mysteries.

This was first Death Cafe led by Katie & Juanna. A wonderful group of 22 people gathered, shared their stories, ate cake and drank tea in the warm surroundings of Elgin Library. Some of the closing words from participants included connection, love, peace, gratitude, heart-warm. We look forward to our next Cafe! Thank you everyone for your contributions, your donations to cover the room hire, and for your presence.
