We had a lovely group of 11 people (including facilitators) and we discussed the issues encountered with family while dealing with grief, how a loss can suddenly impact relationships with siblings and other family members. Talking about legacy with one's family, especially children was also a subject we touched on.

Had a wonderful session, 2 people attended and we were 4 in total. The discussions touched on "recovering from" grief and societal norms of grieving for a short amount of time, then resuming life as before. We talked about loneliness after a bereavement, and the lack of openness to talk about grief which can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms, even within a family, and how it can either bring members of a family closer together or further apart. All in all a wonderful, insightful session.

We've had a small group of 5 (including 2 facilitators) and had a lovely conversation about grief: how sometimes grief is different depending on the cause and time of death (sudden deaths vs long-term illnesses). We also dived into the problems one faces when publicising death-related content i.e. on social media but also mortuary services or death-related scientific studies, as it is hard to use a public, visual medium to promote this already repressed subject.

Our meeting was formed of 6 people (with the facilitator), we talked about our attitudes to death and why it is so difficult to discuss this when people are alive and well, despite of how necessary it is in the long run. Different cultural perspectives were noted and different traditions and beliefs around burials and how the dead are treated from the moment they become 'the loved one'.

A wonderful session with just a few of our regular members (3 + 2 moderators). We had an enlightening session talking about being of help to a dying friend. We asked ourselves how could one truly understand someone who is dying without one being ill and also how would we ourselves react if we found out we were terminally ill. The idea of emotional vs. logical reactions to such diagnosis was a focal point in the discussion. End-of-life plans were also discussed in an attempt to understand how we can help our elderly loved ones when the time comes.

We had a lovely group of 14 (excluding moderators) and talked about the fear of death (or lack of it), how making children a part of a death conversation, attending funerals etc. creates a healthy relationship with this reality.
Some reviews from attendees say the session has been "enlightening, enjoyable, fun", "the group was very welcoming", they are "more open to talking about [death], and the experience "opened up a new perspective" for them.

We had a small group of 3, with some very interesting conversations about local burials, especially environmentally friendly ones that are local as well. Some great insights from attendees.

A lovely group of 7 people (including two facilitators) - we had a great time talking about various topics such as supporting a dying friend, how other people support us during bereavement, pet loss and pet therapy at the end of life. We also touched on how social media distorts our perception of death i.e. teenage suicides, or famous deaths being almost glamourized.
Overall a very insightful conversation with positive feedback from the attendees.

The first Death Cafe session in Dunstable went much better than expected. There were a couple of reservations in advance but after we started we had gotten to a nice group of 9 (including the facilitator).
The topics we discussed were funeral rites in different cultures and religions, we touched upon the topic of cremation vs. burial, as well as what does it mean to respect the wishes of the dead when planning a funeral.
Overall it was a rich discussion and everyone's feedback was overwhelmingly positive. It is a relief as we have been planning on having the meetings on a monthly basis but were not ...
