About Kate Penning:
I'm a lover of life, I really do enjoy it and I want to enjoy death too; the lead up, the preperation of it, the thoughts I have around it.
I teach Mindfulness and would love to see people demystify subjects around death and dying so they can go peacefully.
I teach yoga, I'm also an actor and my first ever headshots were taken in a cemetery.
I just love the beautiful victorian cemetery's you find in London and Paris. These are some of my favourite places.
What brings you to Death Cafe?
In 2010 all of my grandparents died. All four in one year and an ex boyfriend as well.
One grandparent died in a confused state, not sure how he'd left things, believing he'd left them all wrong
I don't wish this kind of death on anyone and I want to open up this conversation so that people have an oportunity to do something about any unfinished business.so they can go without grasping, yearning and attachment.
What would you like your legacy to be?
If I can assist just one person to see both their life and their death as being beautiful, sacred, unique occurrences i will have suceeded.
To live life with beginners eyes and to see death as the beautiful unknown, without fear is my wish for all beings.

It was a cosy afternoon for our first Death Cafe. Four of us sat around the dining table and discussed death and dying. Two people had lost parents when younger so the subject of needing to get our affairs in place came up amongst those with children. Time passed easily and the 2 hours flew by. Overall we all came away feeling like we’d shared something special.
